The land that meets the sky

Switzerland is my homeland. A land known for its alps, so the māori name for it is just the most fitting of all: Huiterangi = meeting with the sky.

It is not only mountains you find in Switzerland though. Various towns all with their charm and all different (in architecture, culture and language) from one another are what attracts many people as well.

The mountains in the recent photos (from the canton (=state) of Ticino) are actually only the pre-alps. I'm sure one day I'll be adding some actual alps photos. Meanwhile a selection from Ticino (south) - including the lovely Lugano, the Unesco castles of Bellinzona, and some of the many valleys -, and from Schaffhausen (north) - including the border town of Schaffhausen and a couple shots of the biggest waterfall (in volume of water) of Europe (the Rhine Falls).
